Eat that Frog – Brian Tracy – Book Review II

These are my notes from the book as understood by me.

CHAPTER 4 – CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENCES

Successful people have a clear future orientation. They think 5, 10 and 20 years out into future.

Make better decisions about time – Ask yourself – What are the potential consequences of doing or not doing this task?

There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing.

Three questions for maximum productivity

  1. What are my highest value activities?
  2. What can I, and only I, do that if done well will make a real difference?
  3. What is the most valuable use of my time right now?

CHAPTER 5 – PRACTICE CREATIVE PROCRASTINATION

Creative procrastination – Procrastinate on small tasks. DO THE WORST THING FIRST!

Learn to say “NO” – say no to anything that is not a high-value use of your time and your life.

Creative procrastination is the art of thoughtfully and deliberately deciding upon the exact things you are not going to do right now, if ever.

CHAPTER 6 – USE THE ABCDE METHOD CONTINUALLY

Priority setting method. Think on paper. Then place A,B,C,D or E next to each item on your list. “A” item is defined as something very important. Something you must do. If you have more of “A” tasks then use A-1, A-2, A-3 – in this A-1 is your biggest task

“B” items are that you should do. Has only mild consequences of not doing.

Rule is never to do a “B” task when “A” task is left undone.

“C” task is something that would be nice to do

“D” task is something you can delegate to someone else

“E” is a task that you can eliminate altogether. It won’t make any difference.
