John Maxwell 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership Laws 13, 14 & 15

Law#13 Law of the Picture

IT TAKES A LEADER TO KNOW A LEADER, TO SHOW A LEADER AND TO GROW A LEADER!

Learning the Law

LEADERSHIP IS HIGHLY VISUAL

People do what People see – It is easier to follow an example than follow words

It takes a leader to raise-up a leader

  • Followers can’t do it, & neither can institutional programs
  • The potential of an organization depends on the growth of its leadership

Living the Law

Followers are always watching

It’s easier to teach than do

When change becomes necessary, start with you!

The greatest gift a leader can give is being a good example

Leading others to the Law

Ask Questions when you hear

  • We have meetings, I lay out the vision, my team seems to agree but there is NO action!
  • Why do some of my ideas get traction & results right away & others I can’t move off of center to save my life?

Law #14 The Law of Buy-In

Learning the Law

People buy into the leader, then the vision

  • You cannot cast a vision & expect buy-in until they have bought you!

Do I give people a reason to follow me?

Living the Law

A leader must

  • Develop relationships
  • Is honest, authentic & develops trust
  • Holds themselves to high standards
  • Gives people the proper tools
  • Helps followers achieve THEIR goals
  • Develops their leadership

Does my vision resonate with people?

The order of buy-in is first who, they why!

If the why is big enough, the how will come to us!

Am I giving people time to buy in?

Is my vision truly right for others?

Leading Others to the Law

Everyday what are you doing to invest in your people in such a way that they are buying not only in what you are teaching but buying in you

The people will buy into you when you buy into people

Law #15 The Law of Victory

Learning the Law

Leaders find a way for the team to win

Living the Law

THERE IS A MINDSET THAT SAYS LOSING IS NOT AN OPTION, WINNING IS MANDATORY!

What will change this mindset?

  • The leaders resolve
  • Unity of Vision
  • Diversity of skills
  • Raising team members to their potential
  • Know & utilize each members’s strength

Leading Others to the Law

Leadership is Responsible

Losing is unacceptable

Passion is unquenchable

Creativity is essential

Quitting is unthinkable

Commitment is unquestionable

Victory is inevitable
